Why is the torque different when tightening and loosening?

When loosening, if the components are under the same conditions, the applied torque only has to overcome the friction force.Therefore, there are some exceptions to this rule that the torque required to loosen the fasteners is lower.Due to different friction conditions, higher torque may also be required when loosening fasteners.Corrosion, jamming, or rough surface can greatly increase friction, resulting in increased loosening torque.
With the use of anti-loosening washers, the difference between the tightening torque and the loosening torque will be greater.During fastening, sliding occurs between the bolt head or nut and the serrated surface of the upper lock washer
However, when loosening, sliding occurs between the cam surfaces of the washer, which greatly reduces the friction.
